CMCH intern doctors call off strike

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 1, 2025 (BSS) - The intern doctors of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) called off their week-long strike following an assurance from CMCH authority today. 

Besides, the students of Chattogram Medical College (CMC) also called off their class boycott programme. 

Earlier, the intern doctors and students organised a human chain under the banner of "CMC Students and Doctors" at the college campus, around 12pm.

Later, CMC Principal Prof. Md. Jasim Uddin, CMCH Director Brigadier General Mohammad Taslim Uddin and Vice Principal Abdur Rob joined the human chain and announced that the demands will be meet. 

Addressing the human chain, CMC Principal Md. Jasim Uddin said, "Authorities are trying to resolve the issues officially. A court verdict is expected to come on March 12 in this regard. We will take further decision based on the court verdict." 

CMCH Director Brigadier General Md. Taslim Uddin said that no one can use the title of doctor without BMDC registration.

Following the assurance, intern Dr. Ahmed Hasnain and protesting student Md. Shakib Hossain declared the withdrawal of the strike and class boycott.

The intern doctors have been on strike since February 23 to met 5-point demand including not recognizing doctors without MBBS and BDS certificate.
