DHAKA, March 3, 2025 (BSS) - A new committee of Bangladesh Women Judges 
Association (BWJA) was formed today with Dhaka Administrative Appellate 
Tribunal member (senior district judge) Syeda Hosne Ara Begum elected as its 
president and Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Farjana Yasmin as 
the new secretary general (SG).

The 35-member committee was formed at the 34th annual conference of BWJA held 
at Judicial Administrative Training Institution (JATI) in the capital, a 
press release said here today.

Law Commission Chairman Justice Zinat Ara, retired judge of the Appellate 
Division Justice Krishna Debnath and High Court Division Justice Farah Mahbub 
were present at the function, among others.

Judges Runa Nahid Akter, Sharmin Nigar, Shamima Afroz, Jesmin Ara Begum and 
Shanaj Sultana were elected as the vice presidents of the association while 
judges Umme Sorabon Tohura, Farah Mamun and Afsana Abedin were elected joint 
secretary generals. 

Besides, Judge Nawrin Akter Kakon was elected as treasurer, Nusrat Jebin 
Nimmi literature and culture affairs secretary, assistant literature and 
culture affairs secretary Mehera Mahbub, social welfare secretary Sonia Ahmed 
and publicity and office secretary Arifa Chowdhury Himel.
