DHAKA, Mar 4, 2025 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a female drug peddler along with 12 kilograms (Kg) of ganja in the capital’s Mohammadpur area.

A team of DB, Uttara Division, arrested Mst Moyna Begum, alias Ankhi, 21, with the ganja on the Babor Road in Mohammadpur on Monday at about 04:30pm. She kept ganja inside 24 packets of sarees using special trick in a plastic white bag,  said a media release of DMP today.

Acting on a tip-off, the illegal weapons recovery and drug control team of the DB came to know that some drug peddlers from Cumilla district were coming towards the Mohammadpur police station area to sell illegal drugs.

Based on the information, the DB team took position in front of Anurag Restaurant on Babar Road and detained Moyna while she was trying to escape the scene sensing the presence of the law enforcer.

Moyna Begum, during the initial interrogation, confessed that she is an active member of a drug peddling ring and brought the ganja from Cumilla for sale.

Legal process is underway against her.
