DHAKA, March 4, 2025 (BSS) – Police have arrested two drug peddlers, including a fugitive accused of ten cases, in the capital’s Shukrabad area along with ganja and Yaba.
The arrestees were identified as Swapan Mia, 45, a fugitive accused and Md. Sohel Rana, 30, said a media release Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
A team of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station came to know from sources that some drug peddlers were waiting in a private car on a street in Shukrabad area to sell narcotics.
The law enforcers conducted a raid in that area and arrested the duo with the car while they were trying to flee sensing the presence of police.
Police seized the car and recovered 800 grams of ganja and 490 pieces of Yaba.
A case was filed against them with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
During the initial interrogation, the arrestees confessed that they have been involved in drug peddling for a long time. They used to purchase ganja and yaba from Cumilla and bring it to Dhaka and sell in different places in the capital.
Police also said there are ten narcotic cases against Swapan Mia in different police stations of the capital.
Legal action is being taken against them.
