DHAKA, Mar 04, 2025 (BSS) - Motijheel thana police has arrested a mugger red-handed from Shapla Chattar in the city yesterday.

The mugger was identified as Md Sharif (23), who is also accused in nine cases.

Police recovered a knife from his possession.

Police said Sharif is a professional and notorious snatcher and a member of organized dacoit group.

Sharif tried to snatch away earring from one Samia Afroz at Shapla Chattar near Bangladesh Bank building at about 5:35 pm yesterday when she and her husband Shaown Ahmed Khan was passing through the area by their motorcycle.

Hearing the shouting of the couple and bypassers on-duty police came forward and caught Sharif read-handed running after him.

A case has been filed with Motijheel Police Station against Sharif in this connection.

Police said they found seven cases against Sharif on charge of mugging, dacoity and others crimes.
