LAKSHMIPUR, March 5, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee today urged the interim government to hold the national election after completing necessary reforms within the shortest possible time.

"Both the national election and reforms are crucial. Therefore, I would like to urge the interim government to complete the reforms as soon as possible and then proceed with the election," he said while distributing corrugated iron sheets among flood-affected people here.

BNP district unit Member Secretary Sahabuddin Sabu, among others, was present at the event.

Anee stated that although six months have passed since the arson attacks and looting of firearms from police stations on August 5, those arms have not been recovered.

"The fascist Awami League and its accomplices are trying to disrupt law and order with the looted weapons to create chaos in society," he said.
He urged the interim government to launch special drives to recover those missing firearms.

Anee said, "Though Sheikh Hasina has fled the country after being ousted, her associates are still conspiring against the nation."

Mentioning BNP's commitment to standing beside the underprivileged, he said, "As per the directive of BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, party leaders and activists have been instructed to support the poor, distressed, and helpless people."

As part of this initiative, around 1,000 bundles of corrugated iron sheets were distributed in Lakshmipur, he added.

Anee also urged party leaders and activists to continue their efforts in assisting the people in need.
