CUMILLA, Mar 5, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central Nayeb-e-Amir and former member of parliament Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has urged the government to provide Iftar and other food items to the poor people during the holy month of Ramadan.
“We must make our personal deeds more beautiful by utilizing the teachings of the month of Ramadan,” he told a gathering followed by an Iftar party here.
Dr Taher was speaking as the chief guest at the Iftar Mahfil organized by the Cumilla South District Unit of Jamaat in honour of the former and-present leaders of the Islami Chhatra Shibir this afternoon.
Noting that the great message of Islam must be conveyed to every neighbourhood of the district, he said, “We must be there for the common people at the times of trouble and disaster. We must work to establish a Quranic society.”
Referring to India-Bangladesh border situation, this senior Jamaat leader said the Muslims in the frontiers are in fear of bullets even in the holy month of Ramadan and such situation has been possible due to the servile foreign policy of the previous governments.
“The incumbent government will strengthen its backbone and deal with it properly,” he hoped.
Jamaat Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Cumilla South District Jamaat Amir Advocate Mohammad Shahjahan presided over the programme.
Jamaat central Majlish-e-Shura member and former South District Amir Abdus Sattar, District Jamaat Assistant Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, District Secretary Dr. Syed Sarwar Uddin Siddiqui, Cumilla South District President of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Mohiuddin Roni and District Secretary Zahidul Islam Chowdhury, among others also spoke at the Iftar Mahfil.
