One who ordered use of excessive force is responsible for massacre: IGP

 
RANGPUR, March 6, 2025 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has said that the one who gave the order to use excessive force will be responsible for the massacre.
 
“No innocent constable will be charged. Everyone will have to work with patience,” the IGP said while addressing the special welfare meeting of officers and forces held here on Thursday evening as the chief guest.
 
Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) and the Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police organised the special welfare meeting at the Rangpur District Police Lines Drill-shed in the city.
 
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Md. Aminul Islam presided over the special welfare meeting.
 
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Majid Ali was present as the special guest at the event.
 
Officials of CID, PBI, ATU, Highway Police, Tourist Police, Anti-Terrorism, Rangpur Police Training Center, RAB-13 commander, other officers, all police superintendents of all districts of Rangpur range and RpMP officers in charge were present.
 
In the welfare meeting, officers and employees of different categories of police raised their various problems. They mentioned the appointment of specialist doctors in hospitals, provision of medicines for families, special allowances, risk allowances and other problems.
 
At that time, the IGP assured to solve the various problems of the force. He said that he will continue his sincere efforts to solve the problems.
 
The welfare meeting ended with prayers at the Iftar Mahfil, wishing everyone good health, well-being and long life.
