DHAKA, Mar 7, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has said extortionists and terrorists, regardless of their party, must be resisted strictly.
He said this while addressing the Muslim devotees at the Khilgaon Chowrasta Jame Mosque in the capital today after offering Jummah prayers.
"Many are doing immoral acts by pretending to be BNP leaders. I want to make it clear that there is no exemption for the culprit. Rather, if the police release an extortionist at the request of someone, I will recommend for taking action against that police," he said.
The BNP leader said, "If any BNP leader demands extortion or behaves like a terrorist, catch him and hand him over to the law."
Mirza Abbas said the ousted Awami League had spread a web of corruption and terrorism across the country. Even though they were defeated in the movement, extortion and occupation did not stop.
“Now the question is who is doing these things? No one could protest during the dictatorial era. That is why the ruling party became reckless. That is why now the extortionists must be prevented at any cost."
Mirza Abbas said police must be strict in eliminating terrorism and extortionists. BNP will provide all-out cooperation in this regard.
“There is no place for extortionists and occupiers in this party," he said.
