DHAKA, Mar 8, 2025 (BSS) – BNP National Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed expressed deep concern over the violence and oppression on women and children saying the interim government must combat those crimes in strong hand.
Salauddin said this when speaking at a programme organized by Chhatra Dal marking the International Women’s Day at TSC of Dhaka University (DU) here today.
“The degree of violence and oppression against women and children is alarming. We condemn such crimes. Country’s image will be tarnished if such crimes cannot be controlled,” he said.
Laying importance on women empowerment the BNP leader said his party in its 31-point reform agenda has strong commitment for women.
“We are committed to empowering women at level of the society under the provision of the constitution, legislature, law and institutions in line with the aspiration of the July warriors,” he said.
Highlighting the contribution of the women in the July uprising, he said a large portion of the injured and martyrs of July Uprising were women and children and it has been recognized by the political parties, social and human rights bodies and international community.
