JHENAIDAH, March 10, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested former Kaliganj municipality mayor Mostafizur Rahman Biju, an accused in the murder case of Shibir activist Shamim Hossain, from Arpara area of the municipality this afternoon.

Being informed, a team of police conducted a raid in Arpara area and arrested Biju from his house around 2 pm, said Shahidul Islam Howlader, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj police station.

Mostafizur Rahman Biju is an accused in three separate cases, including arson attack on the district BNP office in Jhenaidah town, vandalism of a business establishment and murder of a Shibir worker, the OC said.

He has been absconding since August 5, 2024.
