DHAKA, March 12, 2025 (BSS) - National Girl Child Advocacy Forum (NGCAF) today
observed the International Women’s Day 2025 at the auditorium of Liberation War Museum in
city’s Agargaon.

This year the theme of the day is “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”.

Bangladesh Shishu Academy director general Tania Khan, Plan International Bangladesh country
director Kabita Bose, NGCAF vice president Shahin Akther Doly and Debate for Democracy
chairman Hasan Ahmen Chowdhury Kiran, among others, spoke at the event with NGCAF
president Dr Badiul Alam Majumder in the chair.

Two successful women -- writer, researcher and Dhaka University Professor Dr Samina Lutfa
and writer and human rights activist Ilira Dewan -- were given award for their outstanding
contributions for the development of the women.

In his speech, Dr Badiul Alam said the government needs to be more vocal and proactive in
protecting women's safety. At the same time, a social movement needs to be built to prevent
violence against women, he added.

“We also need to play a vocal role online against cyber bullying. I believe that if we are vocal, violence against women will decrease,” he said.
