DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Chairperson's Adviser Zainul Abdin Farroque today said that the interim government did not take any action against those bureaucrats who worked in favour of Sheikh Hasina-led government.
Noting that Dr Yunus led-government is not taking any action against the bureaucrats who worked for Sheikh Hasina, he said, "Many of the bureaucrats who are closely with the Chief Adviser were guilty of looting during Hasina's tenure. But the government has not taken any action against them."
The BNP senior leader said these while addressing a sit-in programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club demanding arrest and trial of the three former election commissioners who assisted Sheikh Hasina in vote-rigging.
Trinamool Nagorik Andolon organized the programme with its President Muhammad Mofizur Rahman Liton in the chair.
Farroque said police officials Harun-or-Rashid and Mehedi Hasan arrested numerous BNP leaders and activists and carried out inhuman torture.
They tortured and oppressed hundreds of BNP leaders in the name of remand, he said, adding that Hasina managed to hold illegal elections three times under their favour.
He urged the government to bring them to justice as soon as possible otherwise no state reform will be effective in the country.
He requested convener of National Citizen Party (NCP) Nahid Islam to test their popularity by visiting fields, villages, municipalities, upazilas, districts and divisions.
"We all are in the same field to protect democracy and freedom. Our opinions may differ but the goal is the same," he said, hoping that BNP and NCP will have no disagreement over the issue of next parliamentary election.
