DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) - Three police officers including an additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police and two Superintendents of Police (SPs) have been suspended.

These officers are - Additional DIG of Police Md. Shahidullah, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry, former SP of Bagerhat district Abul Hasnat Khan and former SP of Noakhali district Mohammad Asaduzzaman.

During the period of suspension, the police officers will receive food allowance as per the rules.

The Public Security Division of the Home Ministry today issued seperate notifications in this regard following the order of the President.

The notifications were signed by Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division Nasimul Ghani.

The notification said that on September 14 last year, a murder case was filed against Additional DIG Md. Shahidullah with Paltan Police Station in the capital.

He was arrested in that case on February 9.

Shahidullah was a Deputy Commissioner and Joint Commissioner in multiple divisions of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Similarly, a separate notification said that a case of attempt to murder was filed against former Bagerhat SP Abul Hasnat Khan with Fakirhat Police Station of Bagherhat district under the Special Powers Act on February 8 this year.

He was arrested on February 9 last in the case.

On the other hand, a murder case was filed against former Noakhali SP Mohammad Asaduzzaman with the Sonaimuri Police Station of Noakhali district on August 20 last year.

He was arrested in that case on February 9.

Therefore, the three police officers were suspended from February 9 as per the provisions of Section 39 (2) of the Government Services Act (Act No. 57 of 2018).
