DHAKA, Mar 17, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Railway's temporary workers (TLR) today called off their work abstention after getting assurance of payment of their outstanding arrears by Sunday next (March 23).
The agitating representatives of the railway’s temporary workers made the announcement at the Rail Bhaban here today, said a press release this afternoon.
The TLR (Temporary Labor Recruitment) is a system used by the Bangladesh Railway to employ in the vacant posts
Earlier, Railways Ministry Secretary Md. Fahimul Islam assured the agitating TLR workers of paying all their arrears by next March 23 (Sunday).
Briefing the newsmen, he said, "There was a problem in paying the salaries and allowances of the railway's TLR workers due to complications related to the Integrated Budget and Accounting System (IBAS). Internal activities are underway at the finance department and ministry level to resolve the problem."
“The arrears of TLR workers will reach their respective bank accounts by next Sunday,” he hoped, adding that from next April, their salaries will be paid by the 10th of every month”.
Following the assurance of the secretary, the TLR workers announced the withdrawal of their strike.
Bangladesh Railway Director General Md. Afzal Hossain, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Railways and representatives of TLR workers were present during the briefing.
