DHAKA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested the key suspected accused in a fraudulence case over embezzlement of Taka 2.68 crore from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
 
The Dhaka Metro East Division of the CID apprehended Raufun Alam Chowdhury, alias Shuvo, 32, on March 16 when he arrived at the HSIA, said a media release of CID today. 

The case was filed with Paltan Police Station on July, 2022.

As per the case details, Shuvo borrowed the stated amount in cash and through various bank accounts from the plaintiff. In return, he gave a bond with a Taka 300 non-judicial stamp and six cheques of Eastern Bank. 

However, Shuvo misappropriated the money and fled to Dubai without repaying it. After being on the run for a long period, the CID team with assistance from Immigration Police arrested him as he returned to Bangladesh.

It also said that Shuvo and the plaintiff had a prior personal relationship and the fraudulence was perpetrated by exploiting that trust.

The CID is currently investigating the case.
