DHAKA, Mar 18, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Standing Committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain today said if the people become election-oriented, no conspiracies will work in this country.
“People have not got the right to vote for the last 16 years. We believe that the current interim government will restore that right,” he told a doa mahfil and memorial meeting marking the 14th death anniversary of BNP's former Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain. Khandaker Delwar Hossain Memorial Foundation organised the meeting at Jatiya Press Club.
Mosharraf urged the interim government to announce the date of the election very soon.
“If the election process is delayed, the country will be under threat. Because, cohorts of Hasina are still involved in conspiracies and they are conspiring in various ways. They must be resisted unitedly,” he said.
Remembering the former Secretary General of BNP, late Khandaker Delwar Hossain, Mosharraf said Delwar Hossain was a selfless, nationalist, patriotic leader.
“When we expressed our regret to him for not giving Delwar Hossain a ministerial position, he explained to us by saying, 'I do politics for the party's ideology. I do politics to strengthen the nationalist power of Bangladesh. To protect the independence and sovereignty of the country, I do not do it for any position or title.' He has taught us this liberality of politics,” he said.
Khandaker Delwar Hossain's eldest son Akbar Hossain Bablu presided over the meeting, while BNP leaders Zainul Abdin Farroque, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran also spoke.
Khandaker Delwar Hossain's family members were also present.
