CHATTOGRAM, March 18, 2025 (BSS) – Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Dr. Shahadat Hossain today warned that employees of the corporation, who will remain absent in duty for more than seven days without any valid reason or informing the authorities concerned, would be terminated from their jobs. 

He sounded the note of caution to the CCC employees while addressing a meeting with the officers and employees of cleanliness department of the corporation at its Tiger Pass office here.

The mayor directed the employees concerned to spray mosquito control chemicals twice a day ahead of the rainy season to protect the people from mosquito infestation. 

 "Sufficient chemicals have been procured to meet the previous shortage of mosquito control chemicals. Currently, due to the outbreak of mosquitoes, mosquito control chemicals are being sprayed twice a day to protect the people from dengue,” he added.

He said that 100 units of fogger machines and 120 units of spray machines have been purchased so far to this end. 

“As part of social responsibility, various banks have donated modern fogger machines to control dengue and mosquitoes in the city. Some other institutions have also responded positively to our call in this regard.” he added.

He said an initiative have been taken to distribute 40,000 pieces of bins to business establishments for proper waste management. 

“Everyone has to play an effective role in protecting the people from mosquito bites...To prevent mosquito breeding, coconut shells, buckets, and construction materials should not be kept haphazardly,” he added.

Chief Conservative Officer Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Sanitation Officer Pranab Kumar Sharma and other officials and employees of the Conservative Department were present at the meeting.
