DHAKA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has rounded up 179 individuals operating patrols and checkposts as part of its security arrangements across the city.
In the last 24 hours it has operated 667 patrol teams and 71 checkposts, and the patrol teams performed duties in two shifts for public safety under its 50 police stations from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Tuesday, according to the DMP’s Crime Command and Control Center.
Out of these, 340 teams performed duties at night, while 327 teams during the day.
The patrol teams included 479 mobile patrol teams, 73 foot patrol teams, and 115 motorcycle patrol teams.
In addition, 71 police checkposts were operated by the DMP at various important and strategic locations to enhance security in the metropolitan area.
In the last 24 hours, 179 people involved in various crimes were arrested in the combined operations conducted in different areas of the city.
The arrestees included eight robbers, two professional active muggers, two extortionists, 10 thieves, 43 individuals wanted in previous cases, and 27 identified drug dealers.
During the operation, the law enforcers seized different homemade weapons, a car, an auto rickshaw, two mobile phones and Taka 11,700 in cash.
In addition, the drugs recovered included 1,613 pieces of Yaba, two tiny packs of heroin and 2.990 kgs grams (gm) of ganja.
In the last 24 hours, 64 cases were filed with different police stations of DMP.
