ACC decides to file 3 cases against Amir Hossain Amu, daughter, sister-in-law

DHAKA, Mar 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file three separate cases against former Jhalakathi-2 constituency MP and ex-industries minister Amir Hossain Amu, his daughter Sumaiya Hossain and sister-in-law Syeda Haque Mary.

“They have been accused of acquiring wealth inconsistent with their declared income,” ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhter Hossain told journalists at a briefing today.

He said Amu has been accused of abusing his power, illegally acquiring assets worth over Taka 26.27 crore beyond his income sources. Besides, he made suspiciously and illegal transactions through 14 bank accounts in his name, involving Tk 31 crore, 47 lakh, 92 thousand and 708.

Besides, Amir Hossain Amu's daughter Sumaiya Hossain has been accused of abusing her father’s political power, acquiring assets worth over Tk 4.43 crore through bribery and corruption. Besides, she made suspicious transaction of Tk 48.49 crore through 18 bank accounts in her name.

Meanwhile, despite having no legitimate source of income, Syeda Haque Meri, sister-in-law of Amir Hossain Amu, illegally acquired assets worth over Taka  7.66 crore. She also made suspicious transaction of Tk 62.68 crore in 13 bank accounts.
