NCC holds its maiden meeting with LDP

DHAKA, March 20, 2015 (BSS) – The National Consensus Commission (NCC) today held its maiden meeting with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) as part of the move to reach a national consensus on the recommendations of the reform commissions after holding talks with the stakeholders.

The meeting was held at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here in the city, said a press release of the Commission.

 The Commission has ended the initial talks with LDP in its first meeting and is set to hold meetings with other political parties in the days to come, it said.  
 
Vice-Chairman of the commission Professor Dr Ali Riaz and LDP Chairman Col (retd) Oli Ahmad led their respective delegation in the dialogue.
 
 Other members of the Commission took part in the dialogue are- Safar Raj Hossain, Justice S. M. Emdadul Hoque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman and Badiul Alam Majumdar.


LDP Secretary General Dr. Redwan Ahmed, Presidium Members Dr. Neyamul Bashir, Aurangzeb Belal, K.Q. Saqlain, Omar Faruk, Advisory Council Member Mahbubur Rahman and Joint Secretary General Billal Hossain Miyazi were also present in the dialogue.

The Commission was formed under the chairmanship of the interim government's Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, with the aim of building a national consensus.

The commission began its activities on February 15.
 
The report of the Constitution Reform Commission, Public Administration Reform Commission, Electoral Reform Commission, Judiciary Reform Commission and Anti-Corruption Reform Commission were sent to 38 political parties seeking specific opinions of them by March 13.

 
The Commission has so far received opinions from 16 political parties.
