RANGPUR, March 21, 2025 (BSS) - Students of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) have staged a protest procession demanding immediate ban on Awami League.

At the time, the students categorically said that the conspiracy of bringing back Awami League means betraying the blood of martyrs which shall never be tolerated by the students and people of the country.

The procession started from the university's central mosque after Friday's Jum'ah prayers.

The procession circled the main gate of the university and ended with a short rally at the main gate again.

At that time, the protesters kept chanting slogans like 'Awami League has no place in my golden Bengal, Awami League will not have its address in this Bengal, brokerage or streets, streets and streets, the den of murderers-this will not be in Bengal' and so on.

Shamsur Rahman Suman, a student of the university's Bengali department told BSS that an attempt is being made to rehabilitate Awami League before the massacre of July 24 is tried again.

"The students will never accept it. On August 5, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman said that all the killings of the July 24 movement will be tried. We do not see its reflection. There is no opportunity to do politics in Bangladesh before their trial," he said.

"The students will stop any attempt to return them," Suman added.

Another student Rahamat Ali said, "If there is an attempt to return those who opened fire on the students, we will not tolerate it. The student community is ready to stop any conspiracy."

Since the Awami League carried out the killings as a party, they must accept responsibility for the murder and they must be fully tried.

"There is no opportunity to return them to Bangladesh before the trial," Ali said.

Also Zaker Hossain Pasha said, "We can see that a conspiracy is being hatched from behind to destroy the power of the July 24 Uprising. The students will never accept that fascism is being rehabilitated again."

"The Awami League must be banned as soon as possible," he added.

Also BRUR student Ashiqur Rahman said, "If any evil group tries to rehabilitate the Awami League, we will not give up even a single point. We stand on the blood of the students. We have not left the highway."
