RANGPUR, March 28, 2025 (BSS) – National Citizen Party (NCP) Member-Secretary Akhtar Hossain has said the upcoming election will be the Constituent Assembly election and after that election, the elected representatives will present a new constitution and they will fulfil the duties of members of parliament.
“There is no room to look at the Constituent Assembly elections and the National Parliament elections together,” he said while addressing an Iftar Mahfil, organized by the NCP at the Rangpur Zilla Parishad Community Center in the city, as the chief guest this evening.
He said that the constitution of Bangladesh does not reflect the aspirations of the people of the country.
“That is why a new constitution must be formulated,” he added.
Akhtar Hossain said if Bangladesh is to be repaired, then the leaders and activists of the Awami League who committed genocide during July 24 revolution must be brought to justice as individuals and parties.
He said that the trial of the genocide that has taken place in Bangladesh is the most desired issue at present.
“If we do not judge this genocide, then from time to time, tyrannical, fascist forces will seize the state power of the country and get the opportunity to commit genocide and murder in this country again,” he said.
He mentioned the various steps his party will take in the future to take forward the backward northern region.
“In the past, the people of the northern region were deprived in every field. To remove that deprivation, the post-revolutionary NCP has come up with new arrangements,” he said.
He said, “In the future, our party will play a role in eliminating unemployment by working specifically in the regional service of the High Court in Rangpur, labor-intensive industries for the convenience of judicial work.
