KHULNA, April 05, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Prof Mia Golam Parwar said efforts to reinstate fascist Awami League (AL) in the country will not be tolerated.
He reiterated people no longer want to see any form of autocracy in power.
The former lawmaker made the remarks at an Eid reunion as the chief guest, organized by Jamaat's Dhamalia union unit at Baruna Bazar of Dumuria upazila here in the district on Friday evening.
Jamaat's Dhamalia union unit Ameer Mostaq Ahmed Chowdhury presided over the event and secretary general Maulana Mujibur Rahman moderated it.
Prof Parwar said the previous regime laundered money abroad and crippled the country's economy in the name of development.
"In guise of spirit, they created divisions among people, hampering national unity and progress," said Golam Parwar, adding that attempts to rehabilitate the fascist AL will be thwarted.
He, however, noted Jamaat-e-Islami is in favor of the national election after necessary reforms by the Professor Muhammad Yunus-led interim government.
"To build a new Bangladesh, there is a need for honest, capable, and patriotic individuals which Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami can provide," he said,
Recounting oppression the party's leaders and activists went through during the Hasina regime, he said that 11 top leaders were martyred, over 500 members lost limbs forever, and thousands had to leave the country.
After a long time, people celebrated Eid openly and joyfully, he said.
Earlier, Prof Parwar distributed goats and financial assistance among ten needy people at Rudaghara Sardar Para Primary School ground in Dumuria.
Khulna district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Emran Hossain, secretary general Munshi Mizanur Rahman, assistant secretary Munshi Moinul Islam, district executive council member Advocate Abu Yusuf Molla, Dumuria -Fultala welfare council secretary Maulana Abdul Qayum Al-Faisal and Prof Mia Golam Kuddus spoke at the Eid reunion as special guests.
