DHAKA, April 10, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called upon the Muslim world to build strong resistance against Israel for the barbaric attacks and genocide committed by Israeli forces in Gaza and Rafah, Palestine.

BNP leaders made the call in a rally of Dhaka Metropolitan South and North BNP held in the capital in protest against the barbaric attacks and genocide committed by Israeli forces in Gaza and Rafah, Palestine and to express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians.

Besides, the party sees what is happening in Palestine as a conspiracy to not only destroy them but also to exterminate the Muslims of the world.

The program began with a short procession from party's central office premises in Nayapaltan at 4 pm today.

Holding placards, Palestinian flags and black banners, the leaders and activists filled the Nayapaltan area with slogans since early afternoon as about fifty thousand people were seen gathering at the venue.

The procession started at around 4:45 pm. BNP leaders marched holding banners and festoons with pictures of the horrific atrocities in Gaza, Palestine.

During the rally, there were large crowds and protest slogans along the route. Slogans like ‘Boycott Israeli products, Muslims of the world unite and fight’, ‘Why attack Palestine, UN wants answers’ were raised.

At the pre-procession rally, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said, ‘Seeing the hellish torture and killings happening in Palestine, we may only think that they are being tortured. At one point they will slowly try to exterminate all Muslims in the world."

Noting that it is intolerable to see pictures of the ongoing violence in Palestine on social media, Mirza Abbas said, ‘If Ziaur Rahman had played the role he played during the Iraq-Iran war, if he were alive he would have taken effective initiatives for Palestine today and Israel would not have dared to carry out such violence.’

This senior BNP leader said, ‘Today’s protest march has become unusually large compared to any other meeting. Along with BNP, religious devotees have also participated in it. However, unfortunately, it is not possible for us to do anything.’

Another BNP standing committee member, Salahuddin Ahmed, said, ‘Genocide has started in Palestine long ago with the direct and indirect support of some of the world’s superpowers. Today, the people of Palestine are refugees in their own country. However, the leaders of the Muslim world have no effective role. They are not opening their mouths, not taking a stand.’

Noting that there is a global movement to stop the genocide in Gaza, but no effective initiative is seen, the BNP leader said, ‘We, on behalf of BNP, are protesting against this brutality and are strongly demanding an end to the genocide.’

Nazrul Islam Khan said, ‘Ziaur Rahman invited Yasser Arafat on Independence Day. Since then, BNP has taken a stand in favor of the struggle of the Palestinian people. Today, Gaza is like a besieged cage, where barbarity is being perpetrated on children and women. International initiatives are needed to resist the Israeli forces.’

Warning against those who participate in the program in solidarity with Palestine and vandalize and loot, the senior BNP leader said, ‘I will consider those who create chaos as working for Israel. They must be resisted, but not beaten in any way, but handed over to the police.’

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, ‘Atrocious killings have been going on in Palestine for ages. No man or woman is spared. This is a direct crime against humanity. The common people of the country are in favor of Palestine regardless of party or opinion, but there is no such position from the intellectuals. The United Nations has also become an inactive, mute Jagannath.’

The short rally before the procession was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu. BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku moderated the event. BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman and Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aminul Haque also spoke. BNP Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Pintu, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Health Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam, among others, were present.
