NAOGAON, April 14, 2025 (BSS) – Physical disability could not stop BNP supporters-Nur Islam and Siraj Uddin of Patnitala upazila in the district to show their love to the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

They once again showed their love to the party and its leader Tarique Rahman by turning up at the polling centre braving their physical disability to elect BNP Patnitala Upazila unit leaders.

The election to BNP Patnitala Upazila unit took place at Nazipur Siddiqia Fazil Madrasa from 9:00am to 3:00pm today.

BNP supporter Nur Islam came to polling centre with the help of others. Though paralyzed in both legs and unable to walk without assistance, his face beamed with joy as he was carried into the polling center to cast his vote.

Similarly, 65-year-old retired sergeant Siraj Uddin Mondol came to vote with his legs bandaged and using crutches. Their love for Tarique Rahman and the BNP party brought them to the polling center.

After 17 years, 735 voters from 11 unions participated in this festive democratic process. Each voter cast four votes to elect one president, one general secretary, and two organizational secretaries.

Nur Islam said, "I'm a die-hard BNP supporter. I couldn't cast vote for 17 years. When I heard the election is being held under Tarique Rahman's directives, I got excited and determined to vote, no matter what it is. I'm very happy to vote for my preferred candidate."

Emdadul Haque Mukul, the chief election commissioner and member of district BNP, stated that the election ran smoothly and peacefully from morning till 3:00 pm.

Former MP and BNP's central Agriculture Affairs Secretary Shamsuzzoha Khan said, "Now that the country is free from fascism, the people are no longer afraid to vote. Despite all odds, they are coming forward to exercise their rights. Nur Islam is an example. No evil force can suppress those who love BNP and uphold the ideals of Tarique Rahman."
