ACC’s 172nd public hearing held in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - The 172nd public hearing of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) with a theme ‘Natun Swapno-Natun Din-Durnitike Biday Din’ was held here today.

The Integrated District Anti-Corruption Office, Rangpur, with the help of Nilphamari district administration and District Anti-Corruption Committee arranged the public hearing at the local Zila Shilpakola Academy here.

ACC Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen was present at the day-long public hearing as chief guest while its commissioner (investigation) Miah Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi attended it as special guest.

While addressing as chief guest, the ACC Chairman Dr Abdul Momen said the officials of the commission would have to be more sincere in curbing official crime giving priority to the service-receivers demands.
  
“Each of the projects should be Bangladesh friendly, not the contractors’ friendly,” he said, adding that “In my experience, most of our problems are short-term and if we want we can solve it instantly”. 

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nilphamari Mohammad Nayeruzzaman, the public hearing was addressed, among others, by ACC Director General (prevention) Md Akhter Hossain, Additional Police Super Mohammad Mohsin and Director, ACC Rangpur Divisional Office Md Talebur Rahman.

At the beginning of the public hearing, the participants and the dignitaries paid deep 
respect to the martyrs of July-August uprising, language movement heroes of 1952 and the War of Liberation in 1971. The public hearing was begun after a brief discussion.

A total of 81 allegations were raised against 31 government offices in today’s public hearing, of which five allegations were taken for ACC’s investigation and 57 were solved on the spot.  

The commission expressed serious dissatisfaction over the management of 250-bedded Nilphamari General Hospital and decided to investigate into its corruption.
