Two kidnappers arrested in Uttara, private car seized

DHAKA, April 30, 2025(BSS) - Police have arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in the abduction of a man from the Uttara area of the capital city and seized a private car from their possession. 

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Talebur Rahman disclosed the information in a press release today. 

The arrestees were Md Hasanuzzaman Shayon, 36, and Md Amir Hossain, 32.
 
According to the release, on April 18, the arrested persons, along with their accomplices, abducted one Arif from in front of BNS Centre under Uttara Purbo Thana and left the scene in a private car. 

They took him to Rupganj area via Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway and released him after extorting money.

A video of the incident went viral on social media. 

Police, later, on the basis of intelligence information and scrutinizing the video footages of the area, identified the kidnappers and the private car which was used in the abduction. 

Police, on last Monday, arrested Hasanuzzaman Shayon from the city's Khilgaon area and seized the private car from his possession. Based on Shayon's confessional statement, police later arrested Amir Hossain from the Purbo Chanpara area under Rupganj Thana in Narayanganj district. 

The arrestees were produced before a court. Police are continuing efforts to arrest the remaining suspects, the release added.
