DHAKA, Aug 02, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) upward for August, setting the new rate of a 12kg cylinder at Taka 1,598.

With the latest revision, LPG retailers will sell a 12kg LPG cylinder at Tk 1,598, up from the previous price of Tk 1,528, said BERC secretary Md Nazrul Islam Sarkar today.

BERC chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the price saying that the newly fixed price of LPG will be effective from 6pm today (August 2). All LPG marketing companies will implement the price which will remain effective until further notice.

According to the notification, the revised price, inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT), has been fixed at the retail consumer level.

The price of private LPG supplied in liquid form under the reticulated system, including VAT, has been set at Tk 129.40 per kg. The price of LPG supplied in gaseous form has been set at Tk 0.2875 per litre or Tk 287.50 per cubic metre.

As per the BERC decision, the new price at retailer level owned by private sector are as follows - 12.5 kg LPG has been re-fixed at Tk 1,664 at retailer level, 15 kg at Tk 1,997, 16 kg at Tk 2,130, 18 kg at Tk 2,397, 20 kg at Tk 2,663, 22 kg at Tk 2,929, 25 kg at Tk 3,329, 30 kg at Tk 3,995, 33 kg at Tk 4,394, 35 kg at Tk 4,660 and 45 kg at Tk 5,992.

The BERC issued a notification saying that the National Board of Revenue (NBR) withdrew Value Added Tax (VAT) at production stage of LPG and imposed it (VAT) at the import stage.

The BERC revised the consumer prices of privately marketed LPG and auto gas for August 2026 in line with the latest Saudi Aramco Contract Price (Saudi CP).

According to the Saudi CP, Saudi Aramco has fixed the August 2026 Contract Price at US$620 per tonne for propane and US$640 per tonne for butane.

Taking into account the propane-butane mixing ratio of 35:65, the weighted average Saudi CP has been calculated at US$633 per tonne.

The commission fixed the retail consumer price of privately marketed LPG at Tk 133.15 per kilogram, inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT).
