SAVAR, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS)- The law enforcement agencies have recovered nine explosives and a huge quantity of bomb-making materials from a house at Shyampur area following the arrest of a suspected militant with five explosives.
A joint team comprising members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), Bomb Disposal Unit and other law enforcement agencies conducted a raid at a three-storey building owned by Abdul Jalil late last night.
Earlier, the law enforcement personnel arrested Md Arif Hossain, 28, from Hemayetpur area with five explosives. A bag, a knife and a lighter were also recovered from his possession.
Police said they had been tracking Arif from Kishoreganj. After he got off a bus in Hemayetpur, law enforcement personnel arrested him and recovered the explosives and other items.
Based on the information provided by Arif, the authorities later raided the house located behind Shyampur Primary School.
During the operation, they recovered nine explosives, a large quantity of gunpowder and other materials used for making explosives, police said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Model Thana Saiful Alam confirmed the information this morning.
He said Arif was initially arrested with five explosives in Hemayetpur and the subsequent raid on the house was conducted based on information obtained from him.
Police said further legal action in connection with the incident is underway.
