DHAKA, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - A traffic sergeant of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) chased down and arrested a suspected snatcher after he allegedly snatched a woman's bag and mobile phone near the Mirpur-12 intersection in the capital.

The arrested man was identified as Liton Shaikh, 20.

According to the Pallabi Traffic Zone, the incident occurred at around 5:45pm on Monday in front of the Mirpur-12 Traffic Box.

A traffic sergeant on duty saw the suspect snatcher fleeing after allegedly snatching the woman's bag and mobile phone.

The sergeant immediately chased the suspect, while several pedestrians also joined the pursuit.

At one point, the traffic official managed to catch and detain Liton Shaikh.

The arrested suspect was later handed over to Pallabi Police Station for legal action.

After recovery, the bag and mobile phone were returned to the woman.
