DHAKA, Aug 19, 2026 (BSS) - The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan
Police (DMP) today filed 1,841 cases against vehicles for violating traffic
rules in the capital.
The cases were filed as part of the DMP's regular enforcement campaign
carried out on Tuesday (August 18) aimed at ensuring traffic discipline,
reducing congestion and improving road safety across the city, said a press
release of DMP's media and public relations division issued here today.
The DMP said such drives against traffic law violators will continue, urging
motorists and pedestrians alike to comply with traffic regulations to help
maintain order on the roads.
During the campaign, the DMP traffic police dumped 581 motor vehicles and
towed 333, it said.
According to a media spokesperson of the DMP, the Traffic-Ramna Division
filed 137 cases involving five buses, six covered vans, one CNG-run auto-
rickshaw and 31 motorcycles while 167 cases were filed by the Traffic-Lalbagh
Division against four buses, 18 trucks, four covered vans, 15 CNG-run auto-
rickshaws and 87 motorcycles.
Besides, the Traffic-Motijheel Division filed 353 cases against 21 buses,
four trucks, 20 covered vans, 65 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 180 motorcycles
while the Traffic-Wari Division filed 162 cases against 16 buses, two trucks,
five covered vans, 23 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 75 motorcycles.
In addition, the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 161 cases against 16 buses,
two trucks, five covered vans, 23 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 75 motorcycles
while Traffic-Mirpur Division filed 366 cases against 10 buses, 30 trucks, 58
covered vans, 35 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 137 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Traffic-Uttara division registered 287 cases against 45 buses, 19
trucks, eight covered vans, 33 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 97 motorcycles
while Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 208 cases against 40 buses, three
trucks, six covered vans, 10 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 60 motorcycles.
The drives were conducted as part of the DMP's ongoing efforts to enforce
traffic laws and ensure discipline on the city's roads, the DMP release
added.
