DHAKA, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 702 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 702) 115 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 107 in Chattogram division, 47 in Dhaka division, 88 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 123 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 114 in Khulna division, 38 in Mymensingh division, 54 in Rajshahi division and 15 in Rangpur division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh, this year witnessed so far 77 deaths while the disease inflicted 28,090 people.

Last year, the mosquito-borne disease claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country while it claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
