63 foreign nationals arrested in Ctg cyber fraud racket, huge digital gear seized

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 11, 2026 (BSS)- Police arrested 63 foreign nationals belonging to an international online fraud syndicate during a raid in the Khulshi area of Chattogram city.

Police also recovered huge digital equipment from their possession. 

The joint operation was conducted by the Counter Terrorism Unit and Khulshi Police Station of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).

CMP Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Muhammad Faisal Ahmed gave details of the operation at a press conference at the Dampara Police Lines conference room this afternoon.

The arrestees include nationals from China, Pakistan, Laos, Nepal and Vietnam. 

Among them 35 are from Laos, 21 from Pakistan, 5 from China and one each from Nepal and Vietnam. 

Police recovered 134 mobile phones, 57 laptops, one Apple tab, CPUs, monitors, pen drives, SIM cards and other digital devices used for fraudulent activities. Additionally, 3 Pakistani and one Cambodian national identity cards were seized.

Police stated that acting on a tip-off, a special raid was conducted last night at a duplex house belonging to a Dubai expatriate located on Road No. 4 of Krishnachura Residential Area under Khulshi Police Station. 

The suspects had rented the house about a month and a half ago and were operating cyber and financial fraud activities from there.

None of the arrestees possessed valid passports. Police said their passports are deposited with a Bangladeshi individual. With the assistance of this local person, they rented the house.
