DHAKA, Sept 12, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today fined the Rapa Plaza authority Tk 50,000 after Aedes mosquito larvae were found in its ground-floor parking area in the capital's Dhanmondi.
The DSCC drive came following a three-month nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the South Plaza of the Parliament this morning.
At the same time, the DSCC dismissed its employee Sushil Chandra Rabi Das for gross negligence in discharging duties related to mosquito control activities in the area.
Along with imposing the fine, the DSCC also took steps to remove stagnant water from the ground-floor parking area and destroy mosquito breeding grounds.
"The DSCC will not tolerate any negligence by any individual or organisation in identifying and destroying mosquito breeding grounds, and strict action will also be taken against city corporation officials," said a DSCC release.
The DSCC has advised city dwellers to maintain cleanliness in their respective areas, including parking places, roofs and areas adjacent to their residences.
