RAJSHAHI, Aug 1, 2026 (BSS)- Amidst a festive atmosphere to the rhythm of the traditional Orang dance of the indigenous community, students, parents and local residents of Shishu Provat Bidyaniketan welcomed Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP.

The rhythm of the dance reflected the lifestyle, culture, religious beliefs and deep love for nature of the indigenous society.

Amidst that colorful arrangement, the publication of examination results and tree plantation program turned into a celebration of joy.

The event was organized at 10 am today on the school premises of Shishu Provat Bidyaniketan in Bhugrail Christianpara, Paba Upazila, for the publication of examination results and tree plantation.
 
This exceptional educational institution is run on the income from each stitch of Nakshi Kantha, and the students burst into excitement upon receiving their results.

As the chief guest at the event, lawmaker Shafiqul Haque Milon handed over the examination results to the students, congratulated the achievers, and planted saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees on the school premises with the participation of parents and students.

To spread the message of environmental conservation, he handed over a tree to each student and entrusted them with the responsibility of taking care of it.
 
Surjo Biswas, a student who secured first position in the half-yearly Class Four examination after receiving a guava sapling as a gift, said,  I am very happy to have secured first position. 
The MP gifted me a guava tree, which I will plant at home and take care of regularly. When the tree grows, I will not only eat its fruits but also encourage others to plant trees. 
 
In his speech as chief guest, MP Milon said tree plantation is not just a program, it is our responsibility to the future generation. To protect the environment and biodiversity, every person must plant more trees and take care of them. 

 If we can instill love and a sense of responsibility for nature in children from an early age, it will be possible to build a green and livable Bangladesh. 
 
Regarding the tree plantation program, he said that the program of planting 25 crore trees in five years announced by Tarique Rahman, will play an important role in environmental conservation and combating the adverse effects of climate change.

The tree plantation at the school was done as part of that program.
 
Praising the Bidyaniketan, he further said Shishu Provat Bidyaniketan is a bright example of education, self-reliance and harmony.

The coordination of education with women's economic empowerment that has taken place here is exemplary for the country. 

Sumi Murmu's initiative has proved that with sincerity, big changes can be brought about even with limited resources. Everyone must extend a helping hand to take this institution forward.
 
The event was presided over by Sumi Murmu, Chairman of Nari O Shishu Kalyan Sangstha and founding director of Shishu Provat Bidyaniketan.

Special guests at the event, organized with the support of Nari O Shishu Kalyan Sangstha, were Father Paul Peter Costa of Bhugrail Church, Paba Upazila BNP Member Secretary Abdur Razzak, Krishak Dal Central Committee Rajshahi Division Assistant Organizing Secretary Wadud Hasan Pintu, District Jubo Dal member Iftekharul Islam Doni and village chief Julian Biswas.
 
In her presidential speech, Sumi Murmu said,  We believe that an educated child is the foundation of an enlightened family. 

So we are ensuring educational opportunities for children as well as making mothers self-reliant. Each stitch of the Nakshi Kantha is linked to the future of our children. 

 We want to provide education in humanity, harmony and environmental awareness along with bookish education. If we get everyone's cooperation, this initiative will be able to spread light in the lives of many more children. 
 
It is worth mentioning that Shishu Provat Bidyaniketan is a completely self-reliant educational initiative. 

A portion of the income earned by the Santal women associated with the school by making Nakshi Kantha is spent on running the school.

Currently, along with indigenous children, Bengali Muslim and Hindu community children are also studying together here.

This exceptional initiative of education, self-reliance and harmony has already become known as an exemplary model in the area.
