DHAKA, Dec 15, 2022 (BSS) - Bangabandhu victory day national marathon will be held on Saturday (Dec 17) in the city marking the victory day.
The marathon, which begins from Bangladesh Army Stadium at 5 am, will conclude at the same venue after taking u turn at Bangabandhu Bangladesh China Friendship exhibition center.
Runners of the national marathon and runners of other professional will participate in the open marathon competition, by the entire cooperation of Bangladesh Army and organized by Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF).
The marathon event will be held in accordance with the World Athletics and Asian Athletics Association's guidelines as per the route approved by the federation's race director.
Youth and Sports Secretary Mesbah Uddin is expected to present in the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest and distribute the prizes among the marathon winners at Bangladesh Army Stadium.
Prime Minister's principal secretary Tofazzel Hossain Miah will preside over the prize distribution ceremony.
It's expected that near about 100 athletes from various institutions and individuals across the country will participate in the marathon competition.
Only men's full marathon (42.195 km) and women's half marathon (21.100 km) will be held on the day. Forty judges will be on duty to conduct the marathon.
In this regards a press conference was held today (Thursday) at conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium to provide all the details of the meet.
BAF's vice president Tofazzal Hossain, BAF's general secretary advocate Abdur Rokib Montu, BAF's treasurer Jamal Hossain and executive members of the BAF were present at the press conference.
