DHAKA, Dec 25, 2022 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that sports play effective role in increasing global communicatively as sports works to brighten the image of a country.

Moreover, he said, the contribution of sports and cultural practices are immense to keeping the young generation involved in creative works.

He was speaking as the chief guest today at the closing ceremony of the 5th Hamidur Rahman National Youth Shooting Championship, organized by Bangladesh Shooting Sport Federation (BSSF) and sponsored by Hamid Group in Dhaka.

The State Minister said Bangladesh has achieved tremendous successes in shooting. If the event can be spread all over the country instead of concentrating it in Dhaka only, many talented and promising shooters can be found.

Bangladesh Olympic Association's (BOA) Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza was present as a special guest at the closing ceremony.

A total of 105 shooters - 65 of boys and 40 of girls -- from 23 rifle and shooting clubs across the country participated in the competition.

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) Shooting Club emerged champions while Cumilla Rifle Club finished runners-up in the competition.

BSSF's Secretary General Intekhabul Hamid also spoke on the occasion.

Officials of the federation and different clubs were also present in the closing ceremony, presided by BSSF president Lieutenant General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan.
