DHAKA, Jan 16, 2023 (BSS) - The inter-district phase of Sheikh Kamal Second
Bangladesh Youth Games-2023, organised by the Bangladesh Olympic Association
(BOA), began today (Monday) at different districts across the country.
In Barisal, Barisal divisional inter-district phase of the games began from
today (Monday) at Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat Outer Stadium while Barisal's
Divisional Commissioner Md. Amin Ul Ahsan inaugurated the games as the chief
guest.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Barisal Range Police SM Aktaruzzaman,
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Saiful Islam BPM (Bar), Deputy
Commissioner of Barisal Md. Jahangir Hossain, Major Md. Iftekhar Alam (PSC),
General Secretary of District Awami League (AL) Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus
(former member of the parliament), its Senior Vice President Md. Hossain
Chowdhury were present as special guests in the opening ceremony, presided by
Khondkar Md. Anwar Hossain, additional divisional commissioner (general and
revenue).
The football and karate competition were held after the opening ceremony.
In football, Patuakhali district team beat Barisal district while Bhola
district team defeated Pirojpur district in boys' football matches.
Patuakhali lost to Barisal while Pirojpur defeated Bhola district team in the
girls' football matches.
Meanwhile, Barisal's Alifa emerged first in the girls' karate 40-kilogram(kg)
weight category while Shireen Akhtar finished second. Richie Margaret emerged
first in the 45-kg weight category while Jannatul Jahan finished second
position. Janam Jahan Jeba of Barisal emerged first in the 50-kg weight
category while Ahana of Barguna finished second position. Razia of Barguna
emerged top in 55-kg weight category Mithila Ahmed Mou finished second
position.
Lamiya Islam Momi of Barisal emerged first in 61-kg weight category while
Sauda of Patuakhali finished second. Jerin Tasnin Yanta of Barisal emerged
first in 68-kg weight category while Maryen of Barguna finished second
position. Mushariyah Intesar of Barisal emerged first in the 68+ kg weight
category while Jannatul Zereen Tusi finished second position.
Sheikh Mariam Islam Trisha of Patuakhali emerged first in singles karate
event while Jannatul Jerin Tusi finished second position.
The under-17 boys' and girls' from six districts of Barisal Division, who
emerged champion in inter-upazila phase, are participating in the inter-
district phase of the competition. Football, kabaddi, badminton and karate
will be held at Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabat Stadium while badminton and
athletics events will be held at Barguna district stadium.
In Rangpur district, Nilphamari and Rangpur district boys' teams reached
inter-district boys' football final held at Sheikh Kamal Stadium.
Nilphamari district football team defeated Kurigram football by 2-0 goals
while Rangpur district team blanked Lalmonirhat district team by 6-0 goals.
The final of this event will be on Wednesday (Jan 18).
Five districts of Rangpur division-- Nilphamari, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat,
Kurigram and Gaibandha-- are taking part in the district phase competition of
the games.
Earlier, Lalmonirhat district football team beat Gaibandha district football
team by 2-0 goals in penalty shoot out in the first match of the day while
Nilphamari district football team defeated Kurigram Football team by the same
identical margin of 2-0 goals.
The U-17 girls' football event of the games will be held tomorrow (Tuesday)
at the same venue.
In Chattogram, Police Commissioner of Chattogram Krishnapad Roy formally
inaugurated the inter-district phase at MA Aziz Stadium in the morning while
President of District and Divisional Sports Organizing Council AJM Nasir
Uddin and Sheikh Kamal Second Bangladesh Youth Games-2023 media committee's
member secretary Dr. Sirajuddin Md. Alamgir were present.
Athletics event of the games was held on the first day in Chattogram with
Saiful of Cumilla emerged top in the boys' 100m sprint while Abu Kaiser
finished second position. Rangamati's Humaira Rashid emerged top the girls'
event while Tamanna Akhter of Loipur finished second position. Raihan Hossain
of Rangamati emerged first in the boys' 200m sprint while Sajjadur Rahman of
Noakhali finished second position.
Besides, Humaira Rashid of Rangamati emerged first in the girls' event while
Tamanna of Laipur finished second position. Roni of Loipur emerged first in
the boy's 400m event while Kabir Hossain of Comilla finished second position.
Humaira Rashid of Rangamati also emerged first in the girls' 400m event while
Iti Akhtar of Laipur finished second position. Kabir Hossain of Cumilla
emerged first in the boys' 800m event while Sarwar finished second position.
Baisakhi Chakma of Khagrachari emerged first in the girls' event while Nadia
Sultana of Feni finished second position. Kabir Hossain of Cumilla emerged
first in the boys' 1500m event while Ramzan Ali of Khagrachari finished
second position. Baisakhi Chakma of Khagrachari emerged first in the girls'
event while Nadia Sultana of Feni finished second position.
Newaz Murshed Shaon of Chandpur emerged first in the boys' high jump event
while Mohaishenun Akhter of Noakhali finished second position. Pragya Chakma
of Rangamati emerged first in the girls' event while Purra Chakma finished
second position. Baki Billah of Noakhali and Sourav of Loipur finished second
in boys' long jump event while Pragya Chakma of Rangamati emerged top and
Tamanna Akhtar of Laipur finished second in the girls' long jump event.
Ali Akbar of Brahmanbaria emerged first in the boys' shot put event while
Jeevak Chakma of Rangamati finished second position. While Shanta Akhtar of
Brahmanbaria emerged first in the girls' shot put event while Eti Akhtar of
Chandpur finished second position.
The handball competition of the games was held at MA Aziz Stadium. Chattogram
district beat Bandarban district team by 27-22 goals in the boys' handball
match.
Meanwhile, the inter-district Mymensingh's phase begins from tomorrow
(Tuesday) at the local Rafiq Uddin Stadium with football event.
Md. Shafiqur Reza Biswas, divisional commissioner of Mymensingh and president
of Divisional Sports Association (DSA), will formally inaugurate the
Mymensingh inter-district phase as the chief guest at 11 am.
Three district teams-- Mymensingh, Sherpur and Netrokona-- of the division
will compete in the men's and women's category in the league system,
organised by Mymensingh DSA.
Mymensingh Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya, President of District Awami League
(AL) and DSA's General Secretary Ehteshamul Alam, Chairman of Zila Parishad
Yusuf Khan Pathan, District AL General Secretary Advocate Moazzem Hossain
Babul, Vice-President of DSA Mumtaz Uddin, Metropolitan AL General Secretary
Mohit Ur Rahman Shanto will present as special guests in the opening
ceremony, to be presided by Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Anwar
Hossain.
Mymensingh DSA's Additional General Secretary Md. Sazzad Jahan Chowdhury
Shaheen said the second phase of the games would be held in five events.
Among them, football will be held in Mymensingh from January 17-18, athletics
event on January 19 and swimming competition will be held on January 20.
On the other hand, Badminton and Chess will be held in Sherpur on January 21.
