DHAKA, Aug 14, 2021 (BSS) - Kawsar Ali Rabbi scored a winning goal in the dying moment as Chittagong Abahani Limited managed a hard-fought 2-1 goal victory over Brothers Union Club in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League Football held today at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).
In the day’s match, Nigerian midfielder Matthew Chinedu and Kawsar Ali Rabbi scored one goal each for Chittagong Abahani Limited while Imtiaz Sultan Jitu netted the lone goal for Brothers Union Club.
Matthew Chinedu put Chittagong Abahani ahead in the 16th minute while Imtiaz Sultan Jitu restored the parity for Brothers Union Club in the 23rd minute of the match.
At one it seemed the match was going for a draw but it was Rabbi who changed the scenario of the match as he sealed the victory scoring the second goal for Chittagong Abahani in the 90+4th minute of the match.
With the day’s win, the port city team Chittagong Abahani Limited also stayed in the runners-up race collecting 40 points from 21 matches while the all-orange Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union Club remained at their previous collection of six points from 20 outings.
Earlier, in the first face, Chittagong Abahani Limited edged past Brothers Union Club by a solitary goal held at the same venue.
Monday’s (Aug. 16) matches: Arambagh Krira Sangha vs Uttar Baridhara Club at Kamalapur Stadium at 4 pm and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club vs Bangladesh Police Football Club at BNS at 4 pm.
