Sheikh Kamal Inter: School & Madrasa Athletics competition concludes

 
DHAKA, March 14, 2023 (BSS)- The final round of Sheikh Kamal Inter: School and Madrasa Athletics competition concluded today (Tuesday) at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the city.

Mohammad Salah Uddin, Secretary to Prime Minister's Office, announced the closing of two-day final round competition as the chief guest.

Bangladesh Olympic Association's (BOA) Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza, BOA's deputy general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku and BOA's director general brigadier general (retd.) Mohammad Shamsul Alom Khan were present as the special guests in the closing ceremony, presided by Bangladesh Athletics Federation's (BAF) vice president and competition organizing committee's convener Md. Faruqul Islam.

BAF's general secretary advocate Abdur Rakib (Montu) conducted the closing ceremony. 

The athletes, who have qualified from the various stages starting from the union level, took part in the final round.

The competition, organised by the BAF, was held in the name after Shaheed Sheikh Kamal, the founder of modern sports and the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Thirty two events were held in two groups in the final phase, participated by 390 athletes of eight divisions.

Earlier, union, upazila, district and divisional phases of this competition, which was organised nationwide, have been completed successfully. Nearly three lakhs and twenty thousand athletes participated in this competition from 494 upazilas across the country.
