DHAKA, Oct 28, 2023 (BSS)—The first four-day game between Bangladesh Emerging and its Sri Lankan counterpart ended in a draw after the Tigers dominated the proceedings at Dambulla.
In a bid to bring out the result, Bangladesh declared the second innings on 147-9 on day four and final day, setting Sri Lanka a 351-run target to win the game.
Sri Lanka however escaped a defeat as they reached 69-5 before the bails were drawn for the final day.
Ripon Mondol and Hasan Murad took two wickets apiece to trigger Lankan collapse. Sri Lanka captain Sonal Dinusha was not out on 27 while Sohan de Livera scored 17.
Thanks to opener Aich Mollah’s 147 and Shahadat Hossain Dipu’s 97, Bangladesh declared the first innings on 501-9.
Sri Lanka also declared on 298-7 after riding on opener Navod Paranavithana’s 136 and Sonal Dinusha’s 106.
