DHAKA, Dec 19, 2023 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) included some
of the Under-19 players in one-day squad of the four teams of Bangladesh
Cricket League (BCL) in a bid to give them some game time ahead of the Youth
World Cup in South Africa next year.
Expectation is high on the youngsters after they became an unbeaten champion
in the just concluded Asia Cup.
The one-day format of the BCL starts on December 24. All of the group matches
will be held in Cox's Bazar but the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium
will host the final on December 30.
Ashiqur Rahman Shibli, the highest run-getter of the Asia Cup found his place
in South Zone along with the teammate Wasi Siddique. Captain Mahfuzur Rahman
Rabby, Jehadul Haque Jihad and opener Jishan Alam are in Central Zone. The
pacers were given rest.
After the BCL, the junior Tigers will start official preparation for the
World Cup from January 1, next year. After a week-long preparation at home,
they will fly to South African where they will have a conditioning camp
before the tournament starts on January 19.
