DHAKA, Dec 26, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain is highly
likely to miss the ICC T20 World Cup as he has been in rehabilitation still
following a knee surgery in last August.
The pace bowler, on whom Bangladesh heavily relied to give them stability in
the middle overs, had picked up an ACL injury in July during the second ODI
of a three-match series against Afghanistan at home.
The injury was key in forcing him out of the ODI World Cup in October-
November and now his participation in T20 World Cup, which will be held in
the USA and West Indies in June next year, appeared to be in limbo, said
Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu.
"From what I have known that Ebadot is likely to return to the action in the
next domestic season which will begin with the first-class competition in the
coming August or September," Abdein told the reporters here today.
"He is still in rehab. So I don't think it will be possible for him to come
back before that," he added.
While Ebadot will miss T20 World Cup, Bangladesh might feel relieved that
another key pacer Taskin Ahmed, who was injured during ODI World Cup is now
fit and will return to the cricket with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
"Taskin is fine at this moment. He will be back to the cricket with the BPL,"
he informed.
