DHAKA, Feb 23 2024 (BSS) - Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club finished the first leg of Bangladesh Premier League Football with a win when they came from behind beat Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 2-1 goals held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Friday. 

In the day's match, Brazilian midfielder Higor Leite and Uzbekistan defender Shokhrukhbek Kholmatov scored one goal each for Sheikh Jamal, while Ghanaian forward Samuel Mensah Konney netted a lone goal for Rahmatganj.

Konney put Rahmatganj ahead in the 20th minute, but Sheikh Jamal staged a brilliant fight back when Higor restored parity in the 40th minute of the match.

After the breather, Kholmatov sealed the victory by scoring the second goal for Sheikh Jamal in the 64th minute of the match.

Rahmatganj, however, tried heart and soul to fight back in the match but could not convert any in the remaining proceeding. 

The day's win saw Sheikh Jamal moved up to fourth position in the league table with 13 points from nine matches, while the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj remained at their previous credit of seven points for playing the same number of outings.
