DHAKA, March 27, 2024 (BSS)-A brilliant century from opener Parvez Hossain Emon was not enough to save Prime Bank Cricket Club from a one-wicket defeat to Mohammedan Sporting Club by DLS method in a thrilling contest in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at BKSP-4 ground today.
Emon who struck six fours and as many sixes in his 111 ball-110 helped the side put up 279 before being all out in 50 overs. His fellow opener Tamim Iqbal made a patient 65 while Sabbir Rahman scored 39.
In reply, Mohammedan fell in deep trouble, being reduced to 15-3 in just seventh over but Mahidul Islam Ankan and Ariful Islam shared 121-run for the fourth wicket to steady the ship.
Ariful though was out for 45 and soon after Ankan followed him with 78 off 92, hitting one four and nine sixes.
As Mohammedan reached 150-5 in 33 overs, the rain stopped the game for a while and the revised target for them was set 272 in 47 overs.
But Mahmudullah Riyad and Abu Haider Rony again brought the side back in the contest with rapid innings. Mahmudullah was out after hitting 42 off 33 while Rony hammered 36 ball-54 with three fours and four sixes.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi sailed the home with bold finish as he struck 28 not out off just 14. He smote three fours and two sixes as Mohammedan reached 275-9 in 47 overs to secure their fifth victory in sixth match.
