Dhaka, May 25, 2024 (BSS) - Five matches of the Independence Day Handball competition (man and woman) were decided on the opening day (Saturday) held at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city, said a press release.
In the day's women's section matches, Bangladesh Ansar beat Police Handball Club by 35-19 goals in the inaugural match and defeated Viqarunnisa Noon Sports Academy by 46-11 goals in the second match while Bangladesh Police Handball Club outclassed Handball Training Center by 37-10 goals.
In the day's men's section matches, Bangladesh Ansar defeated Team Handball Dhaka by 31-15 goals and Border Guard Bangladesh outclassed Faruk Tomal Sports Academy by 43-6 goals.
Earlier, Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor inaugurated the three-day meet as the chief guest, organised by (BHF).
The participating men's teams are Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Police Handball Club, Team Handball Dhaka and Faruk Tomal Sports Academy.
The participating women's teams are Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Bangladesh Police Handball Club, Handball Training Center, Dhaka and Viqarunnisa Noon Sports Academy.
