DHAKA, June 7, 2024 (BSS) - The first ever 'Embassy Cricket Carnival-2024'
was kicked off today at the Bashundhara Sporting Complex.
Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Ambassador Masud Bin Momen inaugurated the
two-day cricket festival organized by the foreign ministry in association
with Gameplay Ltd, a foreign ministry's press release said here.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs always supports sporting initiatives and
appreciates organizations like GamePlay Ltd. for coming up with events like
this", said Foreign Secretary Momen.
The tournament features 16 teams from various International Organizations and
Foreign Embassies and High Commissions competing in a friendly cricket
tournament.
This exciting event serves as a platform for fostering camaraderie and
building stronger relationships between the diplomatic community and
international organizations in Bangladesh, said the foreign ministry.
Embassy Cricket Carnival is expected to generate enthusiasm for cricket while
also promoting cultural exchange and sportsmanship in the diplomatic
community and beyond.
The opening ceremony was followed by group stage matches, leading to the
quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the grand finale on the second day.
Foreign ministry's team won all three group matches and qualified for the
quarter finals as group champion.
