England win toss, opt to bowl against Australia at T20 World Cup

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, June 8, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bowl against Australia in a heavyweight clash between the last two champions at the T20 World Cup in Barbados on Saturday.

Australia beat Oman by 39 runs in their opening match while England's game against Scotland was abandoned because of rain after just 10 overs of Scotland's innings.

Defending champions England are unchanged but Australia brought in paceman Pat Cummins for Nathan Ellis for the game at the Kensington Oval.

Australia are bidding to become the first nation to hold all three global cricket titles -- Test one-day and T20 -- simultaneously.
