DHAKA, July 13, 2024 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Olympic Association today (Saturday) celebrated the Olympic Day 2024 as part of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) global program to popularize the Olympic movement, said a press release.

The BOA celebrated the "Olympic Day" in the capital and seven other divisions across the country in a befitting manner with the slogan: "Let's Move".

On the occasion of the Olympic Day, the BOA organised a grand rally in the capital.

BOA president General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed formally inaugurated the rally as the chief guest by releasing balloons.

The ceremony started with the hoisting of the flag. The BOA president hoisted the national flag while BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza hoisted the flag of the International Olympic Committee. 

BOA deputy secretary general and convener of the Olympic Day organizing committee Ashikur Rahman Miku hoisted the BOA flag.

The rally began from Bangladesh Shishu Academy at 7.30 am and terminated at Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex adjoining the Bangabandhu National Stadium after passing through Education Bhaban, Bangladesh Secretariat, Zero Points and GPO.

Participation in the Olympic Day Run remained open for all sports-loving people.

Various sports federations, associations, clubs, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, athletes of sports control board, students of various schools, colleges and sports enthusiasts including sports organizers of various organizations, sports organizers participated in the rally.

After the rally, certificates were distributed among the participants.
